Yuyuan or Yu Garden is believed to have been built in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago. The exquisite layout, beautiful scenery, and the artistic style of the garden architecture have made the garden one of the highlights of Shanghai.

Yuyuan is a pleasant and well-contained classical Chinese garden located in the centre of Shanghai. It was built between 1559 and 1577 by a local officer as the private estate for his father. This garden that in Chinese means "Garden of Peace and Comfort", is a maze of Ming Dynasty pavilions, elaborate rockeries, arched bridges, and goldfish ponds, all encircled by an undulating dragon wall.

The park has several highlights which are very famous in China. Once you access the park, you will see a 14-meter height rockery from which to have a bird’s view of the Yuyuan Garden. Wandering in the area of Yule Pavilion and Wanhua Chamber, you will find pavilions, corridors, streams, courtyards as well as many other natural features like centenary trees. Finally, the best treasure of the park is the “Exquisite Jade Rock”, a stone that the local office who built the park used to admire. If someone burn a joss stick just below the rock, the smoke will magically float out from all of the holes, and if someone pour water into the rock from top, the water will flow out from each hole creating a spectacular sight to see.

In order to access the garden, please scan the voucher’s QR code at the ticket office to get your tickets and access the Park.
